Job Description

Phoenix Group of Virginia is seeking a Warehousing and Logistics Technician to support warehouse and logistics operations related to the receipt, handling, staging, kitting, movement, and disposition of IT equipment. This position performs hands-on material handling, basic equipment inspection and testing, asset labeling and tracking, and administrative logging in accordance with established logistics, safety, and accountability procedures. The Warehousing and Logistics Technician operates in a warehouse and operational environment and supports program execution through accurate inventory control, equipment readiness, and compliant logistics support for government and defense-related customers.

 Primary Functions:  

Performs customer interface (via face-to-face, phone and Microsoft Teams communication) and asset coordination functions in support of IT equipment lifecycle management. Serves as primary liaison with customers to schedule and execute pickup and delivery of IT assets using in-person and virtual communication platforms. Maintains accountability of legacy and newly issued equipment through daily inventory tracking and reporting.

 Independently manages documentation and control of large inventories of IT hardware, including computers, monitors, keyboards, and peripherals, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and audit ready. Plans and executes logistics operations to meet established timelines, including preparation of pallets for shipment, packaging and transport of equipment, and receipt, unpacking, and staging of replacement assets. Supports mission objectives through reliable execution of duties and consistent professional customer service.

 Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Interfacing with international Government customers.

  • Operating a box van for loading and delivery of palletized assets.

  • Wrapping and unwrapping of pallets.

  • Packing and unpacking boxed equipment.

  • Inspecting and power-on testing of typical IT equipment.

  • Sorting of equipment (creating bundles/kits/sets of IT equipment).

  • Implementing small changes to equipment bundles/kits/sets, such as adding or removing small accessories.

  • Moving and carrying boxes.

  • Loading and unloading of trucks, including operation of typical support equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and vehicle tail lifts and cranes.

  • Collecting packaging waste and moving it to a specified place.

  • Sorting packaging waste for the purpose of segregated recycling.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have an Active SECRET Security Clearance

  • Valid Virginia Class D driver’s license

  • Clean driving record

  • Ability to safely operate a 16-foot box van with a lift gate.

  • Working knowledge of logistics administration and asset management processes, including:

  • Logging equipment movements and transfers

  • Recording part numbers and serial numbers

  • Applying asset identification labels or stickers

  • Tracking users and assigned equipment during user migration activities

  • Logging legacy equipment designated for disposal or demilitarization

  • Ability to follow written procedures, safety guidelines, and inventory control processes.

  • Ability to operate material-handling equipment safely and effectively.

General Experience:

  • 5 years' experience with logistics operations

  • High School Diploma

Functional Responsibility:   

  • Execute day-to-day warehouse operations supporting receipt, staging, kitting, shipment, and disposition of IT equipment.

  • Maintain accurate administrative records related to asset movement, configuration, and ownership.

  • Support inventory accountability by ensuring assets are properly labeled, logged, and tracked.

  • Adhere to safety standards, material-handling procedures, and equipment certification requirements.

  • Coordinate with logistics leads, project staff, and transportation personnel to ensure timely and accurate movement of equipment.

  • Support recycling and waste management initiatives in compliance with site and contract requirements.
