Join Our Team as an Engineering Technician – Supply/Logistics (SME)!
Join Phoenix Group as an Engineering Technician (Supply/Logistics) supporting the Carrier Transition Team (CXT) in Newport News, VA. This position supports Ship’s Force during a carrier Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) by helping identify and resolve supply, material, and production support issues that can affect maintenance execution and schedule performance. The selected candidate will work closely with the crew to provide practical solutions, strengthen supply-related processes, and help sailors succeed in a demanding shipyard environment.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a proactive, credible, mission-focused professional who knows carriers, understands the realities of shipyard availabilities, and is willing to jump in and help wherever needed. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Navy supply, maintenance, modernization, or related shipboard operations and can quickly connect the dots between material support, repair activity, and shipboard readiness. Deep Supply experience is highly valued, but we also want someone with the judgment, initiative, and technical foundation to identify problems, work across organizations, and figure things out in support of sailors and mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted advisor to Ship’s Force on shipboard systems, maintenance processes, material support, and RCOH operations.
Provide mentorship and training to Supply personnel on ordering, tracking, and managing materials in an RCOH environment.
Proactively identify discrepancies in parts ordering, logistics, and material support (especially long-lead items) to help prevent production delays and work stoppages.
Work across Supply, maintenance, repair, and production stakeholders to anticipate issues, remove barriers, and support timely problem resolution.
Embed with the crew as a hands-on partner focused on helping sailors succeed and improving overall mission effectiveness.
Help shape CXT’s short-term and long-term objectives to align with the overarching carrier modernization mission.
Desired Qualifications
8+ years of CVN maintenance, supply, modernization, or closely related shipboard experience is highly desired.
Hands-on experience in a shipyard availability environment is highly desired; RCOH experience is strongly preferred.
Experience in a CVN Supply department is highly valued, but candidates with substantial experience working closely with Supply, maintenance, repair, or material readiness organizations are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated ability to identify issues, solve problems, and operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced operational or maintenance environment.
Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
Familiarity with naval logistics systems and the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, or a technical field may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience.
